Presentation of the book "Obres o trobes..." study and critical edition (June 2).

   On Tuesday, June 2, the book "Obres o trobes en llaors de la Verge Maria (València, 1474)" will be presented, studied and edited by Professor Antoni Ferrando Francés.  As a singular piece, the original copy of Les Trobes, unique in the world, preserved in the Biblioteca Històrica of the Universitat de València, will be exhibited in an extraordinary way.

   The book is number 3 of the Inutilitas Librorum series, within the Cinc Segles collection, the result of collaboration between the Bibloteca Històrica of the Universitat of València and the publishing house Publicacions de la Universitat (PUV)

Classes in Pérez Bayer

Classes will be taught at the Biblioteca Històrica, in the Pérez Bayer room on the days:

- Wednesday, May 6th: Nau Gran classes from 10:00 to 2:00 PM

-Thursday, May 7th: classes, posters from 11:30 to 1:30 PM

-Friday, May 8th: collaboration, vice-rectorate for Culture, from 11:00 to 1:30 PM

-Wednesday, May 13th: Nau Gran classes from 12:00 to 2:00 PM

Then you will not be able to give appointments these days at these times.

Opening of the exhibition "The Books of the House of Osuna" in the Biblioteca Històrica

On Thursday, March 26, at 7:00 p.m., the exhibition opens "ENTRE PRESTATGES I LLINATGES: Els llibres de la Casa d’Osuna en la Universitat de València" in the Duc de Calàbria room.

The exhibition will be open from 26 March 2026 to 5 July 2026.

La Biblioteca Històrica re-open for usual entry

Once the works are finished, the Biblioteca Històrica reopens the doors of the ground floor (loan and information desk) from Monday, March 9.

We have two computers available to users for consultation, with help and advice from library staff if they need it.

Exhibition in preparation: Books of the House of Osuna

In the Biblioteca Històrica, we are preparing the exhibition: "ENTRE PRESTATGES I LLINATGES: Els llibres de la Casa d’Osuna en la Universitat de València". Date: From 26 march 2026 to 5 july 2026.

In 1884, after difficult negotiations, the Spanish State acquired the library of the House of Osuna. The collections were distributed mainly between the National Library of Spain and the libraries of the Senate and Congress. In addition, between 1888 and 1892, the rest of the books were distributed among a dozen university libraries, among which, that of the Universitat de València.

This exhibition traces the route of this collection until its arrival in the Biblioteca Històrica of the Universitat de València and recognizes both the value of the preserved works and the task of location and classification of copies by the staff of the institution for years.
