On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, the edition of the medieval cookbook "Llibre de Sent Soví" will be presented in the Aula Magna of the La Nau building.
In October 2020 the Historical Library of the University of Valencia published the facsimile of this work. A work in which Francisco M. Gimeno Blay, professor in Paleography and Diplomat at the University of València (UV), who has done the codicological study and Alfred Garcia Femenia, doctor in History and Paleography from the UV, who has transcribed the text.
The original "Llibre de Sent Soví" is included in a miscellaneous manuscript, where we find, among others, medical and moral texts, an astrological collection and another catechetical, a grammatical compendium or a lapidary. During its cataloging, some novelties came to light that help to guess the origin of the manuscript. The "Llibre de Sent Soví" can be consulted in RODERIC, institutional repository of the University of Valencia.
The collaboration between researchers and librarians has culminated in the publication of the facsimile, an initiative that allows the preservation of the manuscript and helps in the dissemination of the heritage collection. In the presentation of the facsimile, in addition to the researchers Alfred García Femenia and Francisco M. Gimeno Blay, the participation of Ester Alba Pagán, vice-rector for Culture and Sports of the UV, Rosa Marín, head of the Gastronomy Classroom and Victoria García Esteve, director of the Servei of Libraries and Documentation.
The presentation of the facsimile will take place in the Aula Magna of the Edifici La Nau, on Tuesday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m. Assistance is free but it is necessary to reserve at this link.
