The room on the first floor is a bright, open-plan space that previously housed the old periodicals library. The transition to electronic resources has made it possible to remove the shelves and paper material, freeing up space to add more study areas and adapt the room to the current needs of users.
This renovation gave rise to the Biblioteca Viva project, which reuses the old built-in shelves for new decorative and display purposes, incorporating vegetation and elements that improve well-being. The aim is to create a more comfortable, healthy and welcoming environment for study.
Among the new elements are:
• Plants, which decorate and contribute to improving the quality of the environment.
• Storage elements (hangers and numbered boxes), designed to make it easier for users to organise their belongings and study more comfortably.
• Exhibition space, intended to display posters, illustrations and other materials related to the activities of the Library and the UV's Health Sciences centres.
The current exhibition features reproductions of the finalists and winners of the FisioCómic competition, a comic strip contest on physiological processes that has been held since 2021 and is aimed at university students of physiology. The competition is organised by the Universidad CEU Santo Pablo, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Universitat de València.
