    Presentation Tesoro Messicano

    Next Thursday, May 30, 2024, the presentation of the “Tesoro Messicano” project will take place, in which the Biblioteca Històrica of the University of Valencia collaborates. The project focuses on the preparation of a global census of existing copies of Francisco Hernández's work Rerum Medicarum Novae Hispanic thesurus. The project is led by the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, and the Biblioteca dell’Accademia dei Lincei e Corsiniana.

    The event will be in the Duc de Calàbria room at 9:30 a.m.

    TROBES Year Activities

    - Tuesday, May 14, the Poetry Classroom of the University of Valencia - UV organizes a reading of poems: VERS LLIURE HOMENATGE A LES TROBES by Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of the UV from different faculties.
    The event will be in the Duc de Calàbria room of the Historical Library at 6:00 p.m.
    - Thursday, May 16, in the Chapel of the LA NAU Cultural Center of the University of Valencia, the Level I Dance Group of the Performing Arts Classroom will perform Fulls/Papers, a short, but intense piece based on the 550th anniversary of the publication in Valencia of the "Obres o trobes en lahors de la Verge Maria" (València, 1474), and the Cor de Cambra Lluís Vich Vocalis will offer the performance "Paranymphus salutat Virginem".

    Opening of the exhibition: Trobes, 550 years of printing in Valencia

    We invite you to the opening of this exhibition, on April 25, at 6:00 p.m., in the Duc de Calàbria rooms and the Bigues room.

     

    As a complementary activity, from April 28 to May 26, the replica of Gutenberg's printing press (property of the Asociación de Amigos del Museo de la Imprenta. Senado del Museo) will remain installed at the entrance to the Duc de Calàbria room and will be will show its operation by printing the first page of the Trobes incunabulum,

    Hours: Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Wednesday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

    Exhibition in preparation: TROBES, 550 years of printing in Valencia

    In 1474, following the call for a poetry contest, Obres o trobes en lahors de la Verge Maria were published in Valencia. It was the first book printed by the Crown of Aragon and the first of a literary nature in the Iberian Peninsula. 

    The only preserved copy of Les Trobes is kept in the Historical Library of the University of Valencia. To commemorate this anniversary, the Library presents the exhibition Trobes: 550 years of printing in Valencia. The exhibition can be visited in Room Duc de Calàbria and Room Bigues of the La Nau Cultural Centre. The original copy of  Trobes and a selection of incunabula from the University collection will be on display.
