'Saó', the Valencian educational magazine, will celebrate its 40th anniversary tomorrow, the 8th of July, in Paraninfo of Universitat de València. According to those in charge of the magazine “It will be an event whose aim is to commemorate the last four decades but also to look forward to the future”.

At 7 pm, a round table will take place. The vice-principal of Culture and Equality of UV, Antonio Ariño; the president of The Valencian Parliament, Enric Morera; the first director of “Saó”, Josep Antoni Comes, the current director of the publication, Vicent Boscà and the journalist and researcher Francesc Martínez will be present at the event.  There will be more surprises that afternoon, as at the end, there will be a concert by  Muixeranga de Algemesí and Tornejants as a part of the Festival Serenates programme.  This activity will begin in the Cloister at 9 pm and will continue in Patriarca square.

Since July 1976, “Saó” has promoted “valencianism” and has combined modern ideas of II ecclesiastical Vatical council and “Nosaltres els valencians” by Joan Fuster.

At this point, Vicent Boscà, chief director of the publication and Teresa Ciges, editor-in-chief, have managed to make the magazine adapt to the new times without sacrificing its origins.  Digitalization and the renewal of the graphic design of the magazine, help the digital and paper version complement each other.  What is more, with the 40th anniversary as a motive, all of the issues of the magazine have become available in digital form to the general public.

For Vicent Boscà “40 years is a good number to think about the past but, above all, to contemplate the present and prepare for the future, offering the Valencian community, a vision and opinions held by those who believe in the Valencian State.  After 40 years of Valencian journalism, which no one has been able to silence, we continue working to strengthen the dignity of the Valencian language and of “valencianism” without renouncing any of its fundamental principles which caused the magazine to appear for the first time”.
