The journal Mètode puts an end to its 100 issue with an exhibition at the Cultural Centre La Nau showing the evolution of the journal.

Last Thursday, on 16th of May, the inauguration of  «Mètode: 100 números de ciència» took place at the Cultural Centre La Nau, an exhibition which celebrates this significant achievement of this Research Dissemination Journal of the Universitat de València.  The vice-principal for Culture and Sport, Antonio Ariño, was the comissioned for receiving the visitors coming to La Nau on the occasion of this event and he introduced the head of the Journal, Martí Domínguez, who gave an inaugural speech to an audience integrated by several members of the university community and Valencian experts in culture and art.  Among them, there were artists who collaborated on the different issues of Mètode, such as Rafael Armengol, José María Yturralde or Rebeca Plana, as well as the Valencian Minister of Land Elena Cebrián, the vice-principal for Innovation and Transference, Mª Dolores Real, and the vice-principal for Research, Carlos Hermenegildo.

The exhibition goes through the history of Mètode, from its beginning as a Black and White journal until today, a colour publication edited in three languages, which can be found in some of the impact rates of the most important scientific journals.  Using the covers of each issue as a timeline, the exhibition gathers this evolution and highlights photographs and fragments, some of the journals, reports and articles showing the wide variety of areas and perspectives spread in the pages of the journal over the years.

«Mètode: 100 números de ciència», open to visit until the 15th of September at la ‘Sala Oberta’ of La Nau of the Universitat de València, has also an interactive element: the visitors can send their questions through an app created for the exhibition (the access is available on any device through https://perques.metode.cat/). The questions will be answered in the section of «Why? That’s the question ofMètode» in its website and all the participants will be included in a lottery of five annual subscriptions to the journal.

The inauguration was preceded by the conference of Pere Puigdomènech. The conference dealt with the future of feeding, the third one in the cycle ‘Els reptes de la Ciència’, organised by Mètode and by the ‘Escola Europea de Pensament Lluís Vives.’ The Catalan scientist talked about the challenges that future farming will have to produce enough food for the growing global population.  After Puigdomènech, on Wednesday the 22th, the lecturer of the University of Barcelona, Gemma Marfany will cope with the ethical implications in the field of genetics.  The biologist Xurño Mariño, expert in neuroscience, will close the cycle on Wednesday the 5th of June with the conference «En busca de la mente».
