The Universitat de València, together with the Department of Justice, Interior and Public Administration, sign a Protocol of Action for the assistance of gender violence victims in a joint event on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The principal of the Universitat de València, M. Vicenta Mestre, and the Department of Justice, Interior and Public Administration of the Government of the Valencian Community, Gabriela Bravo, sign a ‘Protocol of Action for the assistance of gender violence victims assisted by the Office of Assistance to Victims of Crime and/or by the Equality Unit at the Universitat de València’ in a joint event on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The Protocol, which is the result of the current collaboration agreement between the two institutions, aims to develop research works and studies in matters of gender violence from a legal perspective. Furthermore, its main purpose is to establish a joint and coordinated action between the Office of Assistance to Victims of Crime (OAVD) and the Equality Unit (UV) in the accompaniment and care of women victims of gender violence.

From this protocol, the women who attend OAVD offices as victims of violence and are members of the Universitat will be offered by the ones in charge of attending them to be referred to the Equality Unit for a supplementary accompaniment within the university.

Similarly, women who first go to the Equality Unit (UV) to denounce that they are suffering (or have suffered) any kind of violence may be referred to the Office of Assistance to Victims of Crime (OAVD) and the Office for Complaints and Assistance to Victims of Male Violence against Women for expert advice if required.

Moreover, the event has been attended by the vice-principal for Equality, Diversity and Sustainability, Elena Martínez; the director of the Equality Unit, Amparo Mañes; the technician of the Equality Unit, Isabel Núñez; Professor and Doctor M. José Jordán; and the managing director of Democratic Reforms and Access to Justice, José Garcia Añón.
