The Faculty of Psychology and Logopedia has organised several commemorative activities, such as a series of conferences and several exhibitions, and the event was brought to an end with the closing ceremony held in the Auditorium of the Universitat.

The Faculty of Psychology and Logopedia has organised several activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the beginning of Psychology studies throughout December. The first graduating class began their studies in 1973, and, just 25 years later, in 1998, saw the Degree in Logopedia begin to take its first steps as “llicenciatura” (former Spanish undergraduate degree).

The closing ceremony of the commemorative activities took place on Thursday, 21 December. The event was attended by the Principal of the Universitat de València, M. Vicenta Mestre; the dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Logopedia, Antonio Ferrer; the dean of the College of Logopedia of the Valencian Community, María Jesús Lluch; the secretary of the College of Psychology of the Valencian Community, Vicenta Esteve; and the secretary of the Faculty of Psychology and Logopedia, María Florencia Rodrigo. The event was attended by teaching staff, administrative and service personnel, and students of the faculty, both active and retired, who did not want to miss the important event.

The second part of the event featured a conference by Heliodoro Carpintero, current president of the Spanish Academy of Psychology and first dean of the Faculty of Psychology at the UV (1938-1988). Secondly, Professor José Luís Miralles, full-time university professor of Basic Psychology and retired professor of the Universitat, gave his conference. Both of them have described the emergence of psychology and logopedia studies, the process of implementation and development of the degrees at the Universitat, as well as the future challenges that both degrees have to face.

This brings to an end almost two weeks of commemorative activities, such as the series of conferences and the exhibitions "From yesterday to the future, teachers who marked the way”, which can be visited in the faculty lobby until 10 January; "Research and teaching in the first promotions of psychology: bibliographic exhibition" which can also be visited until 10 January in the library of Psychology and Sports, Joan Lluís Vives; and "Women who give words”, which can be visited until 2 February in the Sala de Cristal.
