A cycle of critical debates will analyse the Valencia port expansion project.

The University of Valencia, in collaboration with the Ciutat-Port citizen platform, is hosting four debates to analyse the project to expand the port of Valencia. The sessions are divided in four round tables aimed at both university students and the general public. The first is scheduled for this Thursday (20 May) in the Botanical Garden of the University.
The roundtables are structured around these four axes: economic, environmental, governance and memory and recognition. The first will begin at 18:30 on Thursday 20 in the Joan Plaça auditorium of the Botanical Garden.
In the following weeks, the initiative will continue in different areas of the University of Valencia: in addition to the Botanical Garden, the Faculty of Geography and History (27 May), the Faculty of Law (3 June) and La Nau (10 June).
Experts with original views topics to be discussed will take part in the debates, such as Joan Martínez Alier, ecological economist; Antonio Turiel, CSIC scientist and author of the blog ‘The Oil Crash’; Eulàlia Santjaume, full university professor of Physical Geography; Jorge Olcina, president of the Spanish Association of Geography (AGE); Alba Nogueira, jurist; and Pilar Vega, geographer and one of the authors of Las cuentas ecológicas del transporte' (The Ecological Accounts of Transport).
