In the act they will intervene the Art historian of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Eduardo Carrero; the writer and professor of the UV Vicent Josep Escartí; and the musicologist and conductor of the Capella de Ministrers, Carles Magraner.  

The group Capella de Ministrers, conducted by Carles Magraner, will perform on Friday the Valencian version of ‘The Song of the Sibyl’, as prelude to Christmas, together with the Chorus of the Valencian Government, conducted by Francesc Perales and the Escolanía de la Virgen de los Desemparados, conducted by Luis Garrido.

For the fifth year, the Cathedral of Valencia will host this prophetic song, a paraliturgical drama that had been performed on Christmas night until the 16th century in different cathedrals of the peninsula, mainly in the former Crown of Aragon. In a concert held in 2012, and with the objective of restoring this tradition and reflecting on the birth of Christ and the afterlife, Capella de Ministrers recovered ‘The Song of the Sibyl’ of the Cathedral of Valencia, a treasure of the Valencian musical and religious heritage lost during five centuries, in process of being declared Asset of Cultural Interest and which now comes back in all the glory of the Valencian Golden Age to the Seo Metropolitana.

The performance will have again the replica instruments of the angel musicians of the frescos of the main altar of the Cathedral, from 1472. Furthermore, Alejandro Estellés, the soloist child of the Escolanía de la Virgen de los Desamparados will sing from the pulpit ‘The Song of the Sibyl’ and its prophetic song on the Last Judgment. In addition, before the concert, at 19:00, the Gremi de Campaners Valencians will perform the ‘toques de Maitines de la Consueta’ from 1527, also recovered in 2012 for the first time since the Council of Trent (1545-1563). On its part, the ASSAIG, a Theatre Club of the UV and the Amics del Corpus association will stage, supervised by the conductor of the Theatre Club of the UV, Pep Sanchís, the Prophets’ Sermon, a paraliturgical drama of the Christmas cycle which used to be performed before ‘The Song of the Sybil’.
 
This concert is jointly organised by some institutions: the vice-principal for Culture of the UV, Capella de Ministrers, the Valencian Institute of Culture, the canonry of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Valencia, the Gremi Campaners Valencians, the Theatre Club ASSAIG, the Escolanía de la Real Basílica de la Virgen de los Desamparados, the Chorus of the Valencian Government, the Amics del Corpus Association of Valencia, the Bancaixa Foundation, the Provincial Government of Valencia, the Ethnology Museum, INAE, and the 'Comes' Cultural Association .
