Adela Cortina, “Honoris Causa” by the Universitat de Barcelona

The former professor of Ethics and Political Philosophy of the Universitat de València, Adela Cortina, will be awarded an honorary doctorate by the Universitat de Barcelona on Wednesday 25 May. The event will be held at the auditorium at 12 hours. Miquel Martínez, professor at the University de Barcelona, from the Research Group on Moral Education (GREM) of the Faculty of Education will act as sponsor.

Adela Cortina has received numerous awards and honorary doctorates by universities in Europe and America, most recently from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Another recent recognition was the III protection to Human Rights “Juan Antonio Carrillo Salcedo” Award from the University of Seville. She was the first woman to become a full member of the Royal Academy of Moral and political Sciences in 2008.

She is the author of the books: Aporofobia, el rechazo al pobre, Un desafío para la democracia, Ética mínima, Ética sin moral, Ética aplicada y democracia radical, Ciudadanos del mundo’, Por una ética del consumo’, Ética de la razón cordial, Las fronteras de la persona, Justicia cordial, Neuroética y neuropolítica, and ¿Para qué sirve realmente la ética? which was awarded with the National Essay Award in 2014.
