Antonio Ferrer Manchón, professor of the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology, has been unanimously re-elected as dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy of the Universitat de València by the 52 people who attended the Centre Board held on Monday, 25 March.

Ferrer Manchón’s team is comprised of Ana D’Ocon (vice-dean for Studies); Diana Pons (vice-dean of External Internships); Ladislao Salmerón (vice-dean for Mobility and Exchange Programmes); Mª del Castillo Fuentes (vice-dean for Quality and Innovation); and María Rodrigo (secretary and responsible for Equality and Diversity).

Antonio Ferrer graduated in Psychology in 1992 with an extraordinary prize. He is a doctor in Psychology since 1998. Linked to the Universitat de València since 1992 as a research fellow, he became a tenured university professor in 2000.

He was director of the section of the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology at the Primary School Education University School “Ausiàs March” from 2002 to 2003, secretary of the same Department from 2008 to 2011, and vice-dean for Studies at the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy from March 2015 until March 2021, when he was elected as dean. He has been a member of the Senate of the Universitat de València since December 2017 and also of the Board of the Senate. He directed the Master's Degree in Special Education from July 2014 to September 2018. He is currently president of the Conference of Deans of Psychology of Spanish Universities since May 2023.

He has taught mainly in teaching, speech therapy and psychology degrees, as well as in postgraduate training related to educational care in situations of disability. Currently, his research is developed within the Interdisciplinary Research Structure for Reading (ERI Lectura), a group specialised in the development of studies on reading. His work focuses mainly on the effect of reading strategies on learning, as well as on the analysis of reading processes in populations with disabilities and/or neurodevelopmental disorders.
