Elia Saneleuterio, winner of the Rafael Morales Prize with a lyrical work on the extra-academic intricacies of the universities

Elia Saneleuterio Temporal, professor at the Faculty of Teacher Training of the UV, has won the 49th Rafael Morales 2023 Poetry Prize, organised by the Talavera de la Reina City Council, with a prize of 9,000 euros. More than 570 poems from all over the world competed for this year's prize. The winning work, entitled 'Dos o tres/dos tercios', will be published in the Melibea Poetry Collection.

‘Dos o tres/dos tercios’ is a book of poems-novel whose plot explores the secrets of academic stays and the relationships of attraction and power between a full-time university professor and a doctoral student.

Talavera's Councillor for Culture, Enrique Etayo, pointed out that this prize has become a classic in poetry competitions both in Spain and abroad.

The author, who signs as Elia S. Temporal, is associate professor in the Department of Language and Literature Teaching, where she directs the TALIS research group. As a poet, she has published 'De cómo ya no duermo ya sola' (2006), 'Encara sospire nits' (2007), 'Al nord amb els teus ulls' (2016), 'Poetes d'exili' (2016), '180º' (2019), 'Cuaderno de las tres estaciones' (2021), 'a/brazadas' (with Mar Busquets, 2023).

Elia Saneleuterio has won several literary awards for her work, including the Valencian Prize of Critic. She has also recently launched 'A/B Poesía', a website to promote poetry reading and writing.
