The virtual Forum of Employment and Entrepreneurship of the Faculty of Geography and History of the University of Valencia was held last 25 February with various activities taught by leading figures and aimed at both degree and master’s degree students, through a specific landing page.

The new edition of the event organised by UVjob, through the Office of the Vice-principal for Employment and Training Service, in collaboration with the Faculty, seeked to boost the employability of future graduates of this centre with an interesting programme. In a scenario of uncertainty and constant changes due to the COVID-19 crisis, specialists in the field presented students with classic and new professional opportunities. Therefore, this meeting was an opportunity to make the most of the labour market information.

From 09.30 to 14.00 around 20 companies and organisations directly contacted students and graduates in this academic field. The conference started with the traditional opening of the forum by representatives of the centre and the University of Valencia.

This was followed by the opening conference that was addressed relevant issues of the current situation, entitled: ‘Claves para adaptarse a un mundo en constante cambio e incertidumbre’ (Keys to adapt to a wold in constant change and uncertainty). The session was presented by Emilio Iranzo, the Vice Dean of Culture and Student Participation and given by Jimmy Pons, co-founder of Roundcubers.com and creator of the Executive Mindfulness concept.

The event continued throughout the morning with various round tables dedicated to professional opportunities in Spain and abroad and to entrepreneurship. From 10.45 to 12.00 speakers was moderated by MªLuisa Vázquez de Ágredos Pascual, Vice Dean of Quality and Educational Innovation and international Relations. The speeches was given by Pablo González Tornel (director of the San Pío V Fine Arts Museum), Carles de Andrés Ruíz (geographer dedicated to renewable energies) and Diana Carrió Invernizzi, lecturer at UNED.

Then it was time to visit the organizations’ stands, where attendees were able to access each organisation’s online customer service room, talk to company representatives and find out about job opportunities. This part was last until 13.30, before moving on to the last but not leas item of the programme: the recognition of organisations and networking between entities. The activity was aimed at company managers and professionals, who had an exclusive room to exchange ideas.

The UVjob team was available throughout the day to offer professional advice regarding the applications of participants before contacting companies; information and resolution of doubts about how the forum works; support to make the most of the networking; a real-time guidance personalized service where necessary; and information on relevant aspects around the candidate’s insertion.
