Everything is ready for the XIV Kendo Open Championship this weekend

The Universitat de València is already prepared to act as host of the XIV Kendo Open this weekend, an appointment that plans to assemble approximately a hundred people who practice Japanese fencing throughout Spain. Moreover, a delegation of nine male and female trainees from Japan will compete and participate at the clinics.

The Open will be celebrated at the University Sports Pavillion (street Menéndez Pelayo 19, Valencia) and, for the first time, it will incorporate individual competitions. The meeting will on Saturday 18, at 12:00 with the International Clinic of Kendo and the free access competitions at 16:00. The individual male and female will start and after that, those who have more victories will face mixed teams. At the end, the traditional ceremony celebration will take place with awarding of trophies.

Sunday 19, will be dedicated to the instructional section with the organization of the second clinic in the University Sports Pavillion from 10:00 to 12:00.

In the Open a group of Japanese undergraduates, six men and three women will participate headed by professor Takayuki TANO (8º D) and Takeaki TAKESHITA (7ºD). This delegation comes from the Waseda University, Tokio, with who the Universitat de València has a collaboration agreement since 2005.
