Ferran Calabuig has been re-elected as the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (FCAFE) of the Universitat de València. He was the only candidate for the position and received 18 votes in favour with no abstentions.

The management team will consist of María Huertas González as secretary, Pedro Pérez as Vice-Dean of Academic Regulations, José Crespo as Head of Economic Organisation and Facilities, and Joan Úbeda as Head of International Relations and Culture.

Ferran Calabuig is a professor at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. He started as an Adjunct Professor in 2002, teaching at the UV while also working as a Physical Education teacher in various secondary schools of the Valencian Community. He earned a degree in Physical Education in 1997 and became a doctor in Physical Education from the Universitat de València in 2005. Since 2012, Calabuig has been the Vice-Dean of the FCAFE, with responsibilities in economic management, facilities and international relations. In 2021, he was appointed as the Dean.

Calabuig has been a professor in the Department of Physical and Sports Education since 2002, and has served for eight three-year periods, three five-year periods and two six-year periods. He has led and participated in various teaching innovation projects at the Universitat de València and other universities.

He is a professor in several sports management Master’s degrees in Spain and has been a guest lecturer for the summer courses at the University of Chile. In addition, he has served as the Head of the Basketball Chair L’Alqueria del Basket and currently holds the position of Head of the Valencian Pilota Chair.

Calabuig’s research focuses on sports management, marketing and football. He also leads the SMIrg research group (Sport Management and Innovation Research Group). He has published over 100 works and 60 articles in prestigious international journals indexed in the JCR. In addition, he leads and participates in various national and regional R+D+I projects.

Ferran Calabuig is a member of the Spanish Society of Sport Economics and a researcher of the Economic Observatory of Sport. Additionally, he is the President of the organising and scientific committees of several international congresses. In 2008, he received the New Researcher Award from the European Sport Association for Sport Management. In addition, he has received multiple awards for papers presented at international conferences and articles published in journals.
