On Wednesday, 30 June, the awards ceremony for the winning teams of the #SmartMobilityChallenge competition, organised by the Ford Fund and the Universitat de València, took place in the Governing Council room of the Rectorate building of the Universitat de València.

The event, chaired by the Rector of the University of Valencia, Mª Vicenta Mestre, was also attended by M. Adela Valero Aleixandre, Vice Rector for Employment and Training Programmes; Debbie Chennells, Director of Ford Fund Europe; Eva Mocholí, Head of Communications at Ford Fund Spain, and Lola Garzón Benítez, Academic Manager of the Entrepreneurship Unit of the University of Valencia (UVemprén), who acted as presenter.

The aim of the event was to present the prizes to the winning teams of the #SmartMobilityChallenge competition, which were announced at the final evaluation session on 21 May. The first prize went to MyWay project, a mobile application that centralises all urban public transport tickets in a single interface to facilitate mobility and avoid the unnecessary accumulation of physical cards. This team will receive a grant of €12,500 to develop their business idea into a real business project.

In addition, the competition has recognised two other finalist teams that will receive a grant of €5,000 each. These projects are NetCare, an application designed to improve the quality of life of the elderly by facilitating their communication and connectivity with those close to them, and EVLocker, which proposes a system of lockers integrated into the urban fabric that allow the charging of any type of electric vehicle, thus promoting its use and greater sustainability in mobility in cities.

The aim of the #SmartMobilityChallenge competition was to select the best ideas contributed by teams made up of students from the Universitat de València who seek to provide sustainable urban solutions for the cities of the future.
