The Fundació Gadea takes stock of the state of science in the Valencian Community

• The Fundació will gather the scientific community and the regional institutions in order to evaluate the current situtation of science in the region and establish the necessary improvement measures.

• Currently, the Fundació has members such as Francisco Martínez Mojica, who was about to become the third Spanish Science Nobel winner, or María Blasco, director of the Centre Nacional d'Investigacions Oncològiques (CNIO)

• According to the Spanish National Research Council, 33% of the members of the Fundació are included in the list of the 100 most influential and most cited Spanish scientists in the world.

Fundació Gadea per la Ciència (Gadea Foundation for Science), one of the biggest scientific lobbies in Europe, will present on the 15th of April in front of the Valencian scientific community and the regional institutions, the courses of action that will guide their defense of science in Spain. The organisation, which is actually composed of more than 270 scientists, has the purpose of promoting and disseminating all types of science, as well as protecting social welfare and acting as a link between universities, research centres and administrations.

The presentationn ceremony, celebrated with the collaboration of the Universitat de València, will gather personalities such as Maria Vicenta Mestre Escrivá, Principal of the Universitat de València (UV), Francisco Mora Más, Principal of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Juan Luis Arsuaga Ferreras, President of the Fundació GADEA per la Ciència (FGC) and José Antonio Gutiérrez Fonts, director of the Fundació Gadea per la Ciència.

During the conference, there will be a round table moderated by Eugenio Coronado, Director of the Institute of Molecular Science of the UV (ICMol), about ‘La situación de la ciencia en España y la Comunidad Valenciana’, with the interventions of personalities such as Isabel Fariñas, professor of Cellular Biology in the UV; José Capmany, professor of Photonics and Optical Communications at the UPV, Javier Marti, director of the Centro de Tecnología Nanofotónica of the UPV, Antonio Pich, professor of Theoretical Physics of the UV; Salvador Martínez, director of the Institut de Neurociències d’Alacant; Josefina Bueno, general director of Universitat, Recerca i Ciència of the Generalitat Valenciana; Andrés García Reche, executive vice-president of the Agència Valenciana d’Innovació and Javier Quesada, executive president of the Fundació Premis Jaume I.
