After three days of championship, the rugby teams of the Universitat de València were proclaimed Spanish champion and runner-up. Gold Award went to the men’s team. Nonetheless, women’s team obtained the Silver Award. Both recognitions place Valencian university teams among the best of the country.

The Spanish University Championship (CEU) of rugby was organised by the University of Seville and took place in the Sevillian capital from 1 to 3 May. In the men’s category, the final was a derby between two Valencian universities: the Universitat de València and the Politècnica. The UV team won 15-0.

“The most important thing to me is that kids can enjoy the university sport: first competing in the Regional Championship, then in the CEU and of course to compete in the Spanish Championship alongside the best players” stated the team manager, Marcos Miñana. He admits that they will spend some time celebrating, despite of the fact that they are exhausted.

The women’s team were proclaimed runner-up of the competition.  They were defeated in the finals by the Complutense University of Madrid with a difference of 24 points in the score.
