Jenaro Talens, full university professor in the Language Theory and Communication Sciences Department of the Faculty of Languages Studies, Translation and Communication of the Universitat de València, has become a member of Academia Europaea, in the section ‘Film, Media and Visual Studies’. Talens takes his seat together with other 12 known colleagues of this section, being Marc Cerisuelo, Fausto Colombo and Annette Kuhn among them.

The academy was founded in Cambridge in 1988, and the section ‘Film, Media and Visual Studies’ was incorporated in May 2015. Jenaro Talens was proposed by the responsible scientists of the section, the professors Daniël Biltereyst (Ghent University), Göran Bolin (Södertörn University) and Patrizia Lombardo (University of Geneva).

The academy’s main aims are to spread the scientific studies of the several sections the academy is composed of and to organise related events. Jenaro Talens trusts that this appointment “would facilitate a greater international visibility of what is done by those forming part of the area of our country”.
