The Science Park Foundation of the Universitat de València (FPCUV) and the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of València today agreed to establish a stable collaboration to promote and disseminate the use of the Chamber's Court of Arbitration and Mediation in the resolution of conflicts and divergences that may arise in the field of business relations.

The agreement was signed by the president of the board of trustees of the FPCUV, the rector of the Universitat de València, María Vicenta Mestre, and by the president of the Court of Arbitration and Mediation, Silvia Barona, who acted on behalf of the presidency of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of València.

The text commits both entities to jointly organize and disseminate training actions that help promote the culture of arbitration and mediation. It also includes the possibility for the FPCUV to propose the incorporation of professionals and businessmen from its field to act as arbitrators and mediators in the Court of Arbitration and Mediation.

In this regard, the president of the Court of Arbitration and Mediation, Silvia Barona, stressed that "unlike a judge, arbitrators and mediators are specialists in matters of conflict.  In addition, these are two tools that are characterized by independence, rigour and training that guarantees the cast of court professionals.

For her part, the president of the FPCUV and rector of the Universitat de València, María Vicenta Mestre, stressed that these types of agreements "add efforts to improve services to companies located in the Science Park, which we can train in the use of mediation and arbitration.

This agreement will enter into force tomorrow, one day after the signing, and will be valid for an initial period of one year, although it may be extended for successive annual periods.
