La Nau holds a roundtable where the topic: the future of Europe in terms of university will be discussed

Before the conference ‘Guía para entender el Brexit’ (A guide to understand Brexit) by the economist Álvaro Anchuelo, the cycle ‘Las razones de Europa’ (The reasons for Europe) of Escola Europea de Pensament Lluís Vives of Universitat de València continues its programme with the roundtable ‘El futuro de Europa en tu universidad’ (The future of Europe in your University). In this conference, with Professor Cecilio Tamarit as moderator, full university Professor of Applied Economics of Universitat de València and coordinator of Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Integration and Governance, will speak Lucas González Ojeda, press officer of European Commission Representation Office in Spain, and Antonio Bar Cendón, full university Professor of Constitutional Law by Universitat de València and he holds a Chair ‘Jean Monnet ad personam’. The act will be on 25 November at 19.00 p.m. in Paraninfo of Centre Cultural La Nau. Free entry, limited capacity.

The act is co-organised as part of the campaign ‘El futuro de Europa en tu Universidad’ of the European Comission, that takes the same name as the act. The debate’s aim is to approach to society, generally, and the university community, particularly, the debate about the future lines that must configure the European project, once it is formed the new European Parliament and stablished the main guidelines of work that will follow the recent chosen President of the European Comission, Úrsula van der Layen.

This roundtable’s speakers will discuss about the different topics related to the current European political context as a European green possible agreement, the changes to a digital economy, the preservation of the European social model, the democratic impulse or the role of Europe as world power, among other issues of political and humanitarian interest.

‘Las razones de Europa’ cycle will end on 12 December with the conference ‘El mundo que nos viene’ (The world that comes), by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Josep Piqué Camps.

The Escola Europea de Pensament Lluís Vives is a cultural project, promoted by the Office of the vice-Principal for Culture and Sport and managed by General Foundation of the Universitat de València. It is configured as a space for reflection and participatory and critical debate on current issues. The Escuela has the partnership of actors of the public administration and civil society: Presidence of the Generalitat, the City Hall of Valencia, the Valencian Department of Transparency and Education, Research, Culture and Sports, the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua, the Alfons el Magnànim Institut, the Escola Europea d’Humanitats and the Caixa Popular.
