The University celebrates International Dance Day at La Nau

Last 29 April, the Universitat de València celebrated International Dance Day at the La Nau Cultural Centre with a performance led by the UV Dance Group, directed by Professor Christine Cloux.
The performance, which went for around half an hour, consisted of a repertoire of contemporary dance, among which stood out emblematic choreographies of the dance pioneer Pina Bausch (1940-2009), Maurice Béjart (1927-2007) and Cloux herself. The public also was able to enjoy different choreography works done by students throughout the course.
After the performance ends, there was “a surprise” for those attending who was able to participate in this celebration of International Dance Day. The next day, on 30 April, Dance continued at the University with the UV Performing Arts Club’s scheduled programme at Matilde Salvador Hall where was the Mostra de Dansa of the Universitat de València. The performance of International Dance Day at La Nau was repeated and other works from the students was also incorporated.
Christine Cloux is a professor of the UV Dance Group since 2020. With 40 years of experience, throughout her career, she has worked with classical companies such as the Ballet de Basilea or the Ballet de Nancy and contemporary companies such as la Compagnie Gallotta, Roc in Lichen or Philippe Decouflé, among others. She has also won, in many editions, the Valencian Government’s Performing Arts Award for Best Dancer and Best Dance Show. Also, in 2024, she won at the Max awards of Performing Arts, created in 1998 by women at the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers.
