The Llibreria de la Universitat de València celebrated its 20th anniversary on Monday 11 December with an open day followed by a wine of honour. The event was attended by friends who have been part of the Llibreria’s history in one way or another over the years.

During the day, many regular customers, teaching staff from the different faculties and former colleagues visited the Llibreria and signed the commemorative book published for the occasion. All of them wanted to celebrate together with the members of Publicacions de la Universitat de València (PUV). In addition, the Llibreria received the institutional visit of Ester Alba, Vice-Principal for Culture and Society; Remedios Pérez, Vice-President of the Union of Spanish University Publishers (UNE); and Joaquín Corbacho, technical secretary at the UNE.

In the afternoon, during the closing ceremony, Teresa Ferrer (current director of PUV) defended the importance of culture and books as the main instrument for dissemination of culture. In addition, she thanked the attendees and all the people who contributed to the proper functioning of the Llibreria. She also highlighted the work of the booksellers and the entire staff in continuing to offer a large part of the publishing production of universities and institutions. Afterwards, Antoni Furió, director of PUV between 1997 and 2010 and one of the promoters of the Llibreria, recalled how the idea emerged and gave an overview of how this project—which is still going strong twenty years later—was launched.
