Results are provisional. The Electoral Commission will announce the final results next Monday 12 of March.

Among Doctors permanently linked to the University, Mavi Mestre won with 27.58% of pondered votes.  Vicent J. Martínez obtained 23.42%. Martínez achieved a 5.54% of votes among non-doctor professors or professors without a permanent link to university. Mestre got 4.46% of votes. Among trainee researching staff, the results have been: Vicent J. Martínez obtained 0.80% of votes, while Mavi Mestre got 0.53%.

13.46% of students have chosen Mavi Mestre and 11.54% voted Vicent J. Martínez. Finally, Vicent J. Martínez won among the administrative staff with 5.54% of pondered votes, while Mavi Mestre obtained 4.46%.

Over 55.254 were asked to vote at the elections. 84.94% of Doctors permanently linked to the University (2,010 people) has voted.  38.19% of non-doctor professors or professors without a permanent link to university (2,750) has voted. 37.21% of trainee researching staff (437) has participated in the elections.  8.75% of Undergraduate and Master’s Degree students (47,907) has voted. 65.25% of the administrative staff (2,150) has voted.

Mavi Mestre

Mavi Mestre was born in Oliva. She is a professor in Basic Psychology at the Universitat de València. She graduated in Philosophy and Sciences of Education, and specialised in Psychology and Sciences of Education. She was given the National prize to the best scholarship holders and the Extraordinary Prize of Degree.  She got a doctorate in Psychology and obtained an extraordinary award.

She is specialist in adolescents in risk and family. She teaches these matters in some Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees at the Universitat de València and other Spanish and International universities. Her teaching activity has been recognized with six quinquennia.

Her researching activity is focused on social inclusion and the quality of life of teenagers and young people. As a director of a research group, she has been the main researcher in competitive projects. Among these projects, a PROMETEO project with the University of Missouri and the CONICET of Buenos Aires stand out. Currently, she is working in PROMETEO on “socioemotional and personal competence to prevent misfit conduct”.  She has written more than 160 articles in national and international magazines, 23 books and 49 chapters of other books.  She has tutored 16 doctoral theses. She is a member of the International Association of Applied Psychology, the Sociedad Interamericana de Psicología, the Management Board of the Sociedad de Ansiedad y Estrés and the Sociedad Española de Historia de la Psicología. Her research activity has been recognised with six six-year-period bonuses of research.

She is committed with change at the University. She was secretary of department, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Vice-Dean of Studies and Vice-Dean of Academic Organisation, Teaching staff and Sustainability of the Universitat de València.

Pondered voting system

Results are calculated by a pondered voting system.  Following the article 101 of the Statutes of the Universitat de València, the election of the Principal is done through direct voting and universal, free and secret suffrage. Vote is pondered depending on the sector of the University Community as it follows:

a) Doctors permanently linked to the University have 51% of the total value of votes.

b) Votes from non-doctor professors or professors without a permanent link to university count 12.67%.

c) Student votes count 25%.

d) Votes from the administrative staff count 10%.

e) Votes from trainee research staff count 1.33%.
