From 20 to 24 November, Universitat de València holds the Blood Donation Promotion Week, during which university students participate by informing and spreading awareness on the importance of blood donation to the university community. They also answer questions that people interested in becoming donors usually have.
In this edition of the Blood Donation Promotion Week, 86 students of the University participate as promoters, after receiving a training for knowing how the process works, the methods and the importance of blood donation. They were also provided with tools and resources to properly communicate with potential blood donors by the communication expert Fani Grande. The aim is to debunk myths and to dispel fears about blood donation, as well as to spread awareness on a gesture that has no risks and saves lives.
On the next week, there will be three special blood drives on campus linked to this awareness‑raising campaign:
- Tuesday, 28 November, on Blasco Ibáñez Campus. Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy and Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication.
- Wednesday, 29 November, on the Tarongers Campus. Faculty of Economics and the Mobile Blood Drive Bloodmobile (Aulari Sud).
- Thursday, 30 November, on the Burjassot Campus. Faculty of Pharmacy and the Science Library.
The Blood Donation Promotion Week has been driven by the Student Council and organized by SeDi, in collaboration with the Transfusion Centre of the Valencian Community. It is worth mentioning that the Transfusion Centre of the Valencian Community visits the campuses of the Universitat de València throughout the whole year, in order to bring the members of the university community closer to blood donation.
