More than 450 students in the Congreso de Investigación Biomédica hosted by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry

Més de 450 estudiants en el Congrés d’Investigació Biomèdica

The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the Universitat de València hosts between 8 and 10 February the V Congreso de Investigación Biomédico, with more than 450 students enrolled. The aim is to get close to science, research and disclosure from a critical thought. The conference is addressed to students of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursery, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences.

In this edition, the opening table will count on the presence of Pilar Campins, Vice-Principal for Research and Science Policy of the University; Federico Pallardó, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry; the directors of several foundations and institutes for health research of the Region of Valencia; and Santiago Grisolía, Life Secretary of the Valencian Foundation for Advanced Studies, among others. 

Round tables will deal with Physics for Cancer, Research in Immunotherapy and Orphan Infectious Diseases; and also with monologues of FameLab. They also will include oral communications and scientific posters about research works of the students. The scientific jury, composed of directors of the departments and departmental sections of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, will be in charge of the evaluation of the research works, and the foundations and institutes for health research will fund the awards.

With the aim of introducing the students to the real practice of the biomedical research, the conference includes a wide offer of almost thirty workshops taught in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and in the Burjassot-Paterna Campus of the Universitat de València. 

Furthermore, the meeting has planned a social programme with the intention to facilitate the interaction among participants.  This includes visits to the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology, CSIC, History of Science Museum and INCLIVA; apart from formal dinners and leisure activities in the city centre of Valencia.
