More than 5,200 people have attended the ‘Serenates’ festival, which is organised by the Universitat de València together with the Valencian Institute of Culture. This festival has taken place between 24 June and 9 July at the Cloister of the Cultural Centre La Nau and Plaza del Patriarca. The average attendance to each of the 12 concerts has been 435 people and almost all nights there was full capacity. A total of 980 performers have taken part in the festival, where there has been a large presence of young artists.

‘Serenates’ has been really successful since the beginning, 30 years ago, and every year there are more collaborators: the City Hall of Valencia (Councils of Culture and Festivities), the Valencian Provincial Council, the Higher Institute of Artistic Teaching of the Valencian Community (ISEACV), The Valencian Academy of Language, the Bancaja Foundation, the Sabadell Bank Foundation and the French Institute of Valencia.

As it happened last year, the four last concerts have been co-produced between ‘Serenates’ and the ‘Gran Fira de València’.

The 2017 programming has been diverse. It started with a special production for ‘Serenates’ of the ballets ‘Parade’, of Erik Satie, and ‘Les biches’, of Francis Poulenc, represented by the students of the Superior School of Dance, the Ad Libitum Choir and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the UV. The rest of the programming has included performances of the most prestigious Valencian musical groups (Choir of the Valencian Government, Valencia Orchestra, Orfeó Universitari de València), as well as performs dedicated to the recovery of the Valencian musical heritage (Danses del Corpus, Misteri d’Elx o Capella de Ministrers) and to the popular music (Colles de dolçaines i percussió of the Universitat de València and La Socarrada de Xàtiva, Banda de Sta. Maria Magdalena de Novelda), and renowned singer-songwriters such as  Amancio Prada and Jonatan Penalba.
