“Perplexing times: the United States of Trump” is the monographic subject, coordinated by Giulia Colaizzi, of the 53rd number of the magazine Pasajes de pensamiento contemporáneo. It contains articles of Slavoj Žižek, Carmen de la Guardia, Luis Marín Estudillo/Nicholas Spadaccini, Carme Manuel and Paula Rabinowitz. They provide useful knowledge from different points of view in order to reflect on the current situation in the US.

The volume includes an interview of Andrea Inglese to the historian Sabina Loriga, who is the director of the new magazine Passés Futurs. It addresses the issue of trauma and the public use of memory. In the section of varied themes, Carlos Thiebaut writes on pleasure and shame among friends. Julián Marrades addresses the issue of body and machine as for Günther Anders, and Javier Ruiz Moscardó explains the cinema as an imaginary model in the cultural industry.

The 53rd number of Pasajes finishes with the reviews of three books in charge of Pablo Rychter, Ana L. Batalla and Laura Navarro Díaz respectively: a philosophical study by Carlos Moya, a volume of essays on memory, violence and democracy coordinated by Antonio Gómez Ramos and Cristina Sánchez Muñoz, and another volume by Hasan G. López Sanz focused on ethnological exhibitions.
