Since the year 1990, the Publishers Association of the Valencian Country (AEPV) -professional association in which Publicacions de la Universitat de València and the rest public Valencian universities are included- works actively for the book sector and it is the representative of the Valencian publishers before the different organizations. Associationism is the best method of walking together with common objectives because, despite the diversity, the professional partnerships which join and strengthen the sector are essential in order to face the challenges that the immediate future, which is changeable and uncertain, poses.

The AEPV carries out several projects and in 2016 it got one of the 51 projects that the European Union award within the programme ‘Creative Europe.’. It was not easy since a total of 363 were presented. This project is entitled ‘Project of Strategies to Preserve the European Literary Culture through Cooperation between Minority Languages Publishers’ and its objective is the international cooperation through publishers SMEs associations to connect the small publishers from different countries with the purpose of preserving and strengthening the bibliodiversity. Specially, to connect them with those who work with minority languages such as Catalan, Lithuanian and Romanian (languages of the partners of the project) to present themselves in the big European markets and to help publishers to develop common strategies related with the sale of the translation rights, the distributing of their books in other markets and the deepening in the Internet opportunities.

This committee is led by the Publishers Association of the Valencian Country (AEPV) and it counts on the participation of the Publishers Association of Lithuania -Lietuvos Leideju Asociacija (LLA) - and the Publishers Association of Romania -Asociatia Editorilor din Rumania (AER)-, both of them are members of the Federation of European Publishers (FEE). Moreover, three associations of independent publishers in majority languages take place in the project. They are the French Alliance internationale des éditeurs indépendants and L'Autre Livre or the Italian Federazione Italiana degli Editori Indipendenti.

The project foresees, among other things, a calendar of meetings and this is the reason why a group of Valencian publishers travel to Vilnius from the 22 to the 25 February to attend the 17th International Vilnius Book Fair. The Valencian books, as well as the books of the Publicacions de la Universitat de Valencia, will be among the Lithuanian snows.
