Santiago Posteguillo speaks about the creation process of his novels at La Nau

Santiago Posteguillo, who won the Planet award 2018 for its novel Yo, Julia, will give on Wednesday October 23th at 7:00 p.m., at the Centre Cultural La Nau of the Universitat de València, a conference entitled “Julia y la construcción de una novela histórica” (Julia and the construction of a historic novel). The act will be presented by Alejandro Valiño, Professor of Roman Law of the Universitat de València and Cristina García Pascual, responsible of Aula de Literatura (Literature Class) of the Universitat. Posteguillo will speak about the creative process of his work, a great opportunity for those who wanted to become writers or just, wanted to find out how works a novelist like him. The entrance to Paraninfo is free until seating capacity is reached.

Santiago Posteguillo, born in València, studied Creative Literature in the United States and Linguistics and Translation in different universities in United Kingdom. He is also author of more than seventy academic publications that range from research articles to monographies and specialized dictionaries. From his novels, we can highlighted Africanus, el hijo del cconsul (Africanus: Son of the Consul) (2006) his first novel, Las legions malditas (The Accursed Legions) (2008) or La traición de Roma (The Betrayal of Rome) (2009). Currently, he gives lectures of language and English literature as Professor in Universitat Jaume I of Castelló. He publishes his first novel in 2006.

The impact of Santiago Posteguillo spreads to different countries such as Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina or United States. His work has been translated into more than 35 languages, such as Polish or Italian. Since March 2008, all his novels are in the two hundred best sellers ranking by Nielsen selling index in Spain, and in some occasion, they are among the ten best seller novels. Since 2008, he also gives a workshop of creative literature in collaboration with Universitat de València.  

He has received several recognitions throughout his career, such as Cartagena Historical Novels Week and the Valencian Lyrics Awards, which was given to him for the Scipio trilogy, or the Barcelona Historical Novel Prize in 2014. In that year, he was recognised as Honorific Ambassador of the Universitat Jaume I and he published La sangre de los libros, an initiation trip through the history of the literature.

Santiago Posteguillo, who was named Writer of the Year 2015 by the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Government), won in 2018 the Planet award for his novel Yo, Julia, a title that consolidate his name in the world of literature on an international level.
