The Shadowing Programme of mentorship of the UV achieves a 25% incorporation

The fourth edition of the Shadowing Programme of mentorship of the Universitat de València, hosted by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Lifelong Learning, Educational Transformation and Employment through the UVjob and with the support of Santander Bank, has provided the labour incorporation of the 25% of the students participating, that have been 73 people from last Year of degree, 56 of official postgraduates and 11 of doctorate.
This data, given by UVjob, has been extracted from a monitoring of the results of participation inside the program that has been developed in 2024 for the fourth time and that has exceeded the numbers of the third edition with more than 150 registrations and 140 participants, in between them the “irruption” of the doctorate students. The students (from 22 different nationalities and most of them women) came from 15 faculties from the Universitat de València, the School of Engineering (ETSE-UV) and, as a novelty, the Doctoral School.
What’s more, and according to the words of the Vice-Principal for Lifelong Learning, Educational Transformation and Employment from the Universitat de València, Ángeles Solanes, “the provided insertion of the Shadowing Programme means an added value to a project that is born from the goal of helping the students that are ready to confront the work world through mentorships by active professionals, who work with students to guide them and give them high-quality advise regarding their professional development”.
The fourth edition of Shadowing has put 240 mentors available for the students (105 more than last year); all of them active professionals coming from more than 90 companies and different entities, specialists of recognized career in the educational branches of Engineering, Sciences, Social and Law Sciences, Health Sciences, and Arts and Humanities. Their collaboration has been completely voluntary and unselfish.
The work done throughout the programme, firstly, to improve the motivation and conviction of the participants, and secondly, so they had new opportunities to amplify their contact network. All of this through different sessions of mentorship and experiences proposed inside the project of employability.
Finally and as a conclusion to the satisfaction survey done by UVjob, the 100% affirms to recommend the Shadowing Programme and acknowledges that the mentorship has given them the tools, resources and an appropriate orientation to improve their employability and the development of their career.
