Professor of the Department of Physiotherapy, Sofía Pérez Alenda has been unanimously re-elected as dean of the Faculty of Physiotheraphy of the Universitat de València by the 22 people that make up the Centre Board. Voting took place this Friday, 22 March.

The team that will accompany the dean in this new stage will be comprised of vice-deans Marta Inglés de La Torre and Arancha Ruescas Nicolau, vice-dean Manuel Zarzoso Muñoz and Carlos Forner Álvarez as vice-dean of Students. Also, Mercè Balasch i Bernat will be secretary of the centre; Nuria Sempere Rubio, coordinator of the degree; Marta Aguilar Rodríguez, coordinator of work placements of the centre; and Lirios Dueñas Moscardó, coordinator of mobility.

Professor Sofía Pérez Alenda has a diploma/degree in Physiotherapy (1999/2012) and in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (2003) and is doctor by the Universitat de València (2010). She was director of the Department of Physiotherapy between 2015 and 2018, coordinator of the degree in Physiotherapy since June 2020 until March 2021, and since then until today, she has been dean of the faculty.

Sofía Pérez has been actively teaching as a professor of the Department of Physiotherapy since 2004, counting with three five-year and a six-year research periods. In the field of teaching innovation, she has taken part in 11 projects related to teaching in the Degree in Physiotherapy.

Sofía Pérez is head of the Physiotherapy in Motion research group. Multispeciality Research Group (PTinMOTION) of the Universitat de València and regional coordinator for Spain and Portugal of the European Physiotherapist network of The European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders (EAHAD). Her career as a researcher is focused mainly in relation to prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries in people affected by haemophilia, having participated in more than 14 research projects. She has 70 publications in high-impact journals and more than 155 in scientific congresses. She has also been invited as a speaker at a variety of national and international courses and scientific meetings.
