The six students selected to represent the Universitat de València, Carmen Carceller Zazo, Elena Carceller Zazo, Andrés Evencio Izquierdo Riveras, Cristina Salmerón Jara, Joserra Escorihuela y Belén Barbé Abarca have reached a good position in their teams since all of them have made their way to finals. 

It should be noted that Kumpa (http://kumpa.co/), the project in which the student Belén Barbé Abarca participated as well as Work&Go (https://www.facebook.com/workngoapp/), the project led by the student of the Universitat Andrés Evencio Izquierdo Riveras belong to one of the 10 winning projects of the competition. 

Additionally, during the final the judges made a special reference to the project where Elena Carceller participated (www.roadside-rescue.com).

The award includes several mentoring hours to develop the winning ideas at the European Innovate Academy teaching staff’s expense.

More than 400 students from prestigious American universities such as Berkeley or Stanford as well as European universities such as Imperial College or Aalto University participated in this competition. Out of 100 teams only 40 passed to the semi-final and in 4 of them there were students of the Universitat de València. In this phase, each team had the opportunity to talk to 12 different investors and convince them that their idea was the most profitable and viable through a pitch that they had been preparing for days. 

After this phase 10 teams were selected to reach the final, two of them had students from the Universitat de València. Thus, the students had the opportunity to present their idea of business to all students of the European Innovation Academy, investors, mentors and other people who have been part of this entrepreneurship contest.

The participation of students of the Universitat de València has been possible thanks to a call from the office of the vice-principal of Studies and Language Policy and Internationalization and Cooperation. It has allowed them to participate in the training program ‘Waving Ideas’. This one is coordinated from SocInnoLAB (http://www.uv.es/socinnolab/), the living Lab of social innovation of the Universitat de València managed by the Office of Policies for Excellence [OPEX] http://www.uv.es/opex/.

The purpose of this call was to launch a training program, ‘Waving Ideas’, and an internal competition to select students to represent the Universitat de València on the international campus ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Europe: a Berkeley Startup Bootcamp’, which took place in Turin from 9th to 28th July.

On July 26, 2016, the Universitat de València signed a collaboration agreement with the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology (SCET) of the School of Engineering of the University of California at Berkeley. This agreement establishes a stable collaboration framework, 3 years with possibility of extension to participate in the “Global Innovation Collider Campus” program which, among other things, allows students of the Universitat de València to participate in the international campus “Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Europe: a Berkeley Startup Bootcamp “organized by the European Innovation Academy.
