Tribute to the Nazi Holocaust victims at La Nau

The Valencian Department of Justice, Public Administration, Democratic Reforms and Public Freedoms, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture of the Universitat, organises today at La Nau Cultural Centre a tribute on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The ceremony, which will start at 19:00 in la Capella de la Sapiència, will be attended by the vice-principal for Culture and Equality of the Universitat de València, Antonio Ariño; and the councillor of Justice, Public Administration, Democratic Reforms and Public Freedoms, Gabriela Bravo. Admission is free.

The ceremony aims at paying tribute to the 700 Valencian people who were deported to the Nazi concentration camps, where more than 400 died. In addition, it intends to be a symbol of the recognition and respect that also remembers the almost 9.000 Spanish people deported to Nazi camps. The Holocaust involved the extermination of almost two third parts of the European Jew population, six million, and more than a million Romani people.

The tribute will be closed with the performance ‘Music in the Memory’ by Tono Ruano, bassoon and Luis Vallés, piano.
