European Day of Solidarity between Generations celebrated in 2023 in La Nau.

The Universitat de València joins the celebrations for the “European Day of Solidarity between Generations”, set every year on 29 April by the United Nations, and organises the 2nd Intergenerational and Interdisciplinary Meeting of the Universitat de València, which will take place at the La Nau Cultural Centre on 26 April, at 9:00. In the event, university students and students of the different itineraries of La Nau Gran, the programme of the Universitat de València for people over 50, will share experiences distributed in different areas of the building.

This meeting will be led by the students of the different itineraries of La Nau Gran and of the different undergraduate degrees linked to these itineraries. It will address sensitive and current issues for both generations through the common thread of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations (UN). Throughout the event, which will span through the morning, spaces for reflection, debate and the exchange of perspectives and experiences will be opened.

The initiative stems from a Project of Teaching Innovation of the Universitat de València, directed by Department of Geography professor María Pilar Peñarrubia, and has the support of the Staff Development and Educational Innovation Service (SFPIE), the Nau Gran programme, managed by the University Culture Service of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Society, and the support of the Centre Innovation Plan of the Faculty of Geography and History.

The ultimate goal of the activity is to make the learning process flexible in order to more thoroughly assimilate concepts and contents through exposition, discussion and the use of first-person experiences as a teaching resource, taking advantage of the intergenerational value as a driving force for coexistence, reflection and learning.

This event is preceded by similar successful experiences, all of them with interesting results regarding learning of contents, acquisition of competences, individual growth and emotional development for all generations.

In the activity, which is free of charge, 55 places are offered for students of La Nau Gran and 55 for undergraduate degree students. Participating students will have two credits recognised for their academic record. There are still vacant places for the younger students, those pertaining to undergraduate degrees, through this link
