The Universitat and the City Council allocate 30,000 euros to socio-cultural innovation projects through the programme ‘Emergents 2019’

The Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Sports, and the City Council of Valencia, through the Department of Youth, call for the fourth consecutive year the programme ‘Emergents’ for creativity, innovation and socio-cultural inclusion projects. With a total value of 30,000 euros, this call for grants aims to be an impulse for the development of projects with a purpose of fostering social and cultural inclusion in the municipality of Valencia.

The deadline for submission of applications starts on 12 February and finishes on 10 March. According to the regulatory bases of the call, any natural person in his/her personal capacity between the ages of 18 and 35, and entities or groups in which at least 50% of the members are the aforementioned ages, may apply for these grants.

The projects can be carried out in different fields of action: plastic arts, performing arts, visual arts, music, photography, design, literature and publishing, audio-visuals, urban planning, social sciences, technology, gastronomy... Since 2016, 120,000 euros have been given as grants to 37 projects that aimed to foster social and cultural inclusion in many neighbourhoods in the city of Valencia through performing arts, pedagogy, urban planning and visual arts of vulnerable groups and with the objective of raise awareness of the value of cultural education to foster change.

‘Emergents’ is part of Nau Social, a project of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Sports that embrace different programmes to make culture more accessible, reduce inequalities through socio-cultural actions and direct the spontaneous cultural impulse.
