The Universitat classifies 10 of its 12 team sports selections for the CEU

For the first time in its history, the Universitat de València has managed to classify ten of its twelve team sports selections for the Spanish University Championships 2019 (CEU), organised jointly by the seven universities (public and private) of the Valencian Community.

The ten UV teams that will attend the CEU are: women's basketball, men's basketball, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, women's handball, men's handball, women's indoor football, men's indoor football, men's football, women's football and women's rugby.

Handball

The Universitat de València will be the organising university of the championship which will be held from 31 March to 4 April. The matches will take place in the UV Sports Centre, Avenida Menéndez Pelayo, 19 (Access by the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences C/ Gasgó Oliag, 3) and in the Polideportivo Marni Pavilion, C/ Santiago Rusiñol, 23.

The women's UV selection, with Sagrario Santana at the front, was proclaimed champion in CADU (Autonomic Championship of University Sports). For its part, the men's team, led by Juan Angel Perdigon, failed to qualify, although it will attend the competition because it is the host university.

Basketball

The basketball competition, organized by the UMH, will take place from 1 to 5 April at the Palacio de los Deportes of the Universidad Miguel Hernández in Elche.  The Universitat de València will be represented by its two selections that closed won the gold medal in CADU. The women's team will be led by their coach Pau Gaya and the men's team with Jaume Tormo at the front.

Volleyball

The Volleyball CEU, organized by the UPV, will be held from 8 to 12 April in the Sports Pavilion of the Universitat Politècnica de València. The UV will participate with both its female and male teams, after being proclaimed champions of the CADU. Juanjo Susín and Juanfran Álvarez will be in charge of both teams.

Futsal

Futsal championship, organised by the Universitat d’Alacant, will take place from 8 to 12 April and the competitions will be played at Sant Vicent del Raspeig’s Sports Centre.

UV’s male team, with Javi Arnau as its selector, won the first place at the CADU, and the female team, led by Ángel Zurilla, was the runner-up, but earned its position at the CEU, since the host university of the championship won the gold medal (Universitat d’Alacant).

 Football

Football’s CEU, organised by Universitat Jaume I, will take place from the 6 until 10 of May. The competition will take place at the football pitch of the Universitat Jaume I and the three football pitches of the Chencho sports facility.

Both UV teams won gold in the regional university championships. The female team is led by its trainers José A. Menchero and Neus Motoso, and the male team is led by Vicente Amposta and Neus Motoso.

 Rugby 7

In Rugby 7, the UV will only be represented by the female team with Ana Aigneren, the trainer of the team, after winning at the CADU. The championship will be organised by the Universitat Catòlica de València and will take place from the 6 until 8 of May at the Quatre Carreres sports centre, with two artificial grass rugby fields.
