The Universitat de València inaugurated a new breastfeeding room on Wednesday at the Burjassot Campus, a friendly space for co-responsible work-life balance in compliance with the 3rd Equality Plan. With the addition of this room, there are now eight spaces throughout the Universitat in order to comply with the objectives of the Equality Plan “to provide flexible spaces that align with a work-life balance and co-responsibility in the different centres.

These rooms are spread out among the Blasco Ibáñez Campus, the Burjassot Campus and the Palau de Ceveró. On the Blasco Ibáñez Campus, the Rectorate building has two rooms and the Faculty of Nursing and Podiatry, the Faculty of Geography and History and the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication each have one room.

The Palau de Cerveró, which houses the International Relations Service as well as exhibition and conference rooms, also has a breastfeeding room open to all staff and users of the centre.

Lastly, the Burjassot Campus has a breastfeeding room located on the ground floor of the Science Library, next to the assembly hall.

The need for these rooms is also linked to the agreement signed in 2022 between the Universitat de València and the Initiative for the Humanisation of Birth and Breastfeeding Care (IHAN) launched by the WHO and UNICEF to adopt practices that protect, promote and support breastfeeding, in this case, among the university community.
