The Universitat de València hosts the CADU of frontenis and squash

In its bet on university sports, the Universitat de València has opt to offer its support to the racket sports. For this reason, this year organises the autonomic final of frontenis and squash which will be played next Thursday, 2 March, at the facilities of the sports centre Tutempo K7.

The selector of frontenis, Cristina Ortiz, recognises that has “ilusion” because her team can win for the fifth consecutive year. “We are the hosts and, furthermore, we are going to the competition with top-level athletes” says. Thus, will play the autonomic title Victor Molina and Jorge Castro in male; Andrea Micó and Blanca Silvestre in female; and Susana Pascual and Carlos Domínguez in mixed.

In addition to the list of triumphs of the last Championships, the frontenis team of the Universitat de València goes to the CADU with the endorsement of the results obtained in the classification for the International Zabalki. As Ortiz notes, “eight partners have signed up this year, three of them have been classified and we go with the high expectations of winning both the male and female”.

The counselling autonomic medal which has been organised in Alicante by the University Miguel Hernández of Elche will also be played on 2 March. The competition will start at 11:00 and will last the whole morning. The team of the Universitat will attend with 10 men and three women and according to its trainer Niclas Gil “with the expectation of making a podium and have medals”.

Badminton, chess and swimming
Nevertheless the CADU of individual sports will have started on Wednesday 1 of March with badminton, chess and swimming. The first two, at the facilities of the Universitat Jaume I of Castelló, while the swimming pool of the Universitat Cardenal Herrera CEU will host the swimming autonomic.

The badminton team, selected by Iván Gallardo, will compete in all the categories: in addition to the individuals, men and women’s double, and mixed. Gallardo hopes “to take the medal in all the categories and repeat third places on doubles”. He also confirmed that they will return to the autonomic and national Championships the “Two banners of the Universitat”: David Siles and Bárbara Salinas, winners of the bronze in mixed in the Spanish Championship of last year.

The chess team of the Universitat arrives to the CADU with 10 men and three women. In a unique tournament all the universities will play for the general classification, the female and team. “Although we are aware that the teams from Alicante and the Politècnica are strong, we are convinced that we can opt to win”, expresses the selector Ramón García.

Last session of the team competition
After the plenum of the forth derby, the teams of the Universitat de València are preparing themselves to play the fifth and last session of the CADU league, which will be played next Tuesday 28 against the Jaume I of Castelló.

The combined of basketball, football and indoor football will go to Castelló; while the volleyball and the handball will be played in Valencia, in different facilities of the Universitat. The University Sports Pavilion will host the matches of handball (female at 13:00 and male at 15:00) and the Aulari Sud will be the headquarter of the competition of female volleyball at 14:0 and the male at 16:00.
