The Universitat de València is mourning the loss of the Valencian painter Juan Genovés. Representatives of the institution recall that he was one of the most international Valencian artists, and was very attached to the institution. In fact, throughout this year 2020, the University of Valencia's La Nau Cultural Centre is planning to open an exhibition, which will possibly present one of the last portraits made of the author of 'The Embrace'.

The portrait, in black and white, and unpublished, is the work of the photographer Ricardo Martin, and was made at the end of January, in the studio of Genovés, in Madrid. The image will be part of the exhibition 'The Faces of Time', which the Universitat de València is preparing and will open in the coming months at the Centre Cultural La Nau.

Genovés has been closely linked to the Universitat de València. He has collaborated on various exhibition projects, altruistically lending his works, and the Martínez Guerricabeitia collection includes paintings by this universal Valencian artist. The Universitat provides this image, made by Ricardo Martín, because of its great testimonial value.
