In the Faculty of Geography and History, Maria Vicente Mestre, Principal of the Universitat de València, Antoni Gaspar, President of the Valencian Provincial Council, and Julio Monreal, Institutional Relations CEO of Prensa Ibérica Publishers, presented the digitally formatted work which considers the situation of the regions inside the province of Valencia from a multidisciplinary perspective.

“It is an exhaustive work resulting from research of our professors and researchers. A publication that illustrates a modern multidisciplinary public which teaches in any field of knowledge and contributes to knowledge creation and transmission, social cohesion, and heritage conservation” stated Maria Vicenta Mestre, Principal of the Universitat de València, who presided the presentation of the work ‘Regional studies of Valencia’ together with Antoni Gaspar, President of the Valencian Provincial Council, and Julio Monreal, Institutional Relations CEO of Prensa Ibérica Publishers.

It is a choral and multidisciplinary work that gathers the contributions of 27 authors, all of them University professors and researches of 8 departments in the 3 campuses. The digital publication is made of 14 books –one of each region– reviewing geography, agriculture, industry, employment market, tourism, trade, culture, heritage, facilities, etc. in each region. The work has been coordinated by Jorge Hermosilla, Vice-principal for Territorial Projection and Society and Geography full professor in the University, and Joan Carles Membrado, Geography Department professor.

Antoni Gaspar, President of the Valencian Provincial Council, pointed out the benefits of the collaboration between the Regional Council and the University allowing the edition of this collective work that “focuses on the regions and their rich and diverse heritage, which enriches the cultural and educational heritage of the citizens, who have now the chance of learning more about their territory.”

Meanwhile, Julio Monreal, Institutional Relations CEO of Prensa Ibérica Publishers, announced that the daily Levante-EMV will weekly publish a regional analysis based on this work in its paper version. It will digitally offer the regional books so that readers can consult them for free. “We’ve worked out this compromise with the University and the Regional Council because we’re dedicated to our readers, and this is a chance for the newspaper to offer reflexive information collected by the Univesitat de València specialists” highlighted Monreal.
