The Universitat de València has incorporated on Tuesday, the 9th of April, the alliance of universities that gathers eight academic institutions of Russia and Spain, strengthening its relations with the Russian university system.

In an act celebrated by the Spanish Embassy in Russia, the Universitat de València has been incorporated to the ‘Alianza de Universidades Rusas y Españolas (AURE)’, by signing this union of collaboration along the other university members, which will allow to strengthen the relationship of Russia and Spain,

The Alianza de Universidades Rusas y Españolas (AURE) has been created by four Spanish universities and four Russian universities: on one hand, Charles III University of Madrid, Oviedo University Rovira i Virgili University and the Universitat de València. On the other hand, the Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), the Russian Academy of Foreign Trade (ARCE), the National University for Research and Technology (UNIT) in Moscow, and the National Research Tomsk State University.

This university alliance has its origins in a double initiative: the diplomatic and the academic, which has been based along the years to act in a joint and coordinated way, generating bridges between Russia and Spain in the area of higher education, research and culture.

Thus, the diplomatic dimension departs from an important commitment and initiative of the Russian Embassy in Spain and the Spanish Embassy in Russia. On this climate of understanding, the Russian embassor was present last week in the Universitat de València in the act of inauguration of the Russian centre in the Universitat , the second centre created in Spain. Have attended the signing act, the Spanish Secretary of the State for Universities, Research, Development and Innovation, the General Secretary of Universities and the Russian director of the department of International Cooperation of the Ministry for Science and Higher Education.

Regarding the academic dimension, the Universitat de València celebrates this year the tenth anniversary of the sign of the collaborative agreement between our university and RANEPA, and has created the Russian Centre of the Universitat de València along the ‘Fundación Mundo Ruso’ to contribute to the teaching and dissemination of the Russian language and culture in Valencia. Furthermore, begins the celebration of the Dual Year of Research, Science and Youth between Russia and Spain in 2019-2020.

In the act of creation of this Alliance have participated eight Principals of the universities that form the Alliance.

The delegation of the Universitat de València which has participated in this act will be present today, also, in the International Fair of Education, frame in which the Principal of the Universitat, Mª Vicenta Mestre, will participate in a round table along with representatives of the main Russian universities.
