The Universitat, in official mourning for the victims of the COVID-19

The Universitat de València is officially in mourning for the victims of the COVID-19 as a public institution, in application of the Royal Decree that declares mourning throughout the state between 27 May and 6 June. The flags will fly at half-mast at the Universitat de València.

Yesterday, Wednesday 27th May, the Official State Bulletin published the Royal Decree 538/2020, of 26th May, by which it declares official mourning for those who died as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The disposition of the government of Spain establishes that, from 00:00 hours on May 27, 2020 until 00:00 hours on June 6, 2020, this mourning is established.

In application of this Royal Decree, and as a sign of institutional condolence, the flags of the official buildings of the University of Valencia will fly at half-mast during this period of time.

The Principal and the Board of Directors of the Universitat de València, on behalf of the university community, convey institutional condolences to all those affected by the death of people affected by COVID-19.Thus, the Universitat's Principal, Mª Vicenta Mestre, has pointed out the need to collectively express this 'recognition and remembrance for the people who have lost their lives because of the COVID-19, but also for all those people who have left us throughout this extensive period of alarm and who could not be dismissed as we would have liked as a result of the mobility restriction measures to contain the pandemic'.
