La Nau Cultural Centre of the Universitat de València presented the catalogue of the exhibition ‘Art against gender-based violence – So many women in one and the same’, on Monday, 12 February at 18:00 in the Matilde Salvador Hall, as part of a round table entitled ‘Research, creation, and production: Art against gender-based violence’, in which different voices debated how artistic creation is also a fundamental educational tool to raise awareness in the fight against gender-based violence.

The round table was attended by Maribel Doménech, president of the association Women in the Visual Arts (MAV); the artist Marina Vargas; the artist and lecturer at the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia, Nuria Rodríguez; the art critic, Johanna Caplliure, and Semíramis González, inspector of the exhibition, who acted as moderator. Vice-principal for Culture and Society of the Universitat de València, Ester Alba, chaired the event and presented the catalogue.

‘Art against gender-based violence. So many women in one and the same’ is an exhibition which can be visited until 18 February at La Nau. It allows visitors to discover the works of thirty artists that report gender-based violence and advocate freedom for women who have suffered mistreatment and sexism. More than 15,000 people have visited this large exhibition produced by the Universitat de València and whose catalogue will be presented in ARCO, the International Contemporary Art Fair in Madrid next 9 March at 16:00.

The exhibition brings together a wide selection of works from the heritage collections of the Valencian public universities: University of Alacant, Miguel Hernández University, Universitat Jaume I, Universitat Politècnica de València and the Universitat de València, as well as different private collections (Pilar Citoler, Inelcom, DKV...).

Since its opening on 30 November, the exhibition has been complemented by an extensive mediation programme which has enabled a dialogue to be established with the works on display: from the spoken word to stage recitals, dance and movement, performance and round tables.
