The Universitat the València has launched a contest to collect proposals for landscape intervention at the Tarongers Campus. The university community wil choose the proposal that will change and transform said campus into a more sustainable, natural and humane space.

The university has launched a proposal contest for the gardening design of Tarongers Campus, in order to proceed with the Campus transformation and achieve a landscape improvement through the use of plant tissue as a main resource, such as trees, pasture or soft paving.

Therefore, the projects that participate in the competition should contemplate the renovation of an urban space, creating a single and recognisable complex that brings character and environmental quality to the university campus. The regeneration of living areas protected from the sun as well as equipping the campus with street furniture are also required.

The improvement of the Campus has to offer the possibility of holding outdoor events in front of the Gegori Maians library and integrating paths for the rescue and fire fighting services as well as entrances and connections to existing and planned new buildings. Ensuring universal accesibility is also part of the requirements.

The jury will select the five best proposals, which must be feasible and meet all the technical requirements. The proposals will be voted by the entire university community, and the first and second prizes (8,000 and 4,000€, respectively) will be given to the two most voted proposals. 2,000€ will be granted to the rest of the finalists.

The intervention wil be performed on a public space of more than 52,000 square metres and it is expected that the university community choose the best option during the month of September. The drafting of the project is estimated to be done throughout the rest of the year 2022, while the construction works are expected to start in 2023.
