The University Institute of Educational Creativity and Innovations of the Universitat de València (IUCIE) celebrates, on Wednesday 3 April, the 40th anniversary of its formal constitution. The Paranimf (main hall) of the academic institution's historic headquarters will be the setting for the celebration, which will be presided over by the rector, Mavi Mestre.

The event, which will begin at 6 p.m., will be attended by the current director of the institute, Francesc J. Hernàndez i Dobon, previous directors, Román de la Calle, Petra María Pérez and Ricard Huerta, and the general director of Linguistic Policy and Multilingualism Management, Rubén Trenzano, representing the Valencian Ministry of Education, Investigation, Culture and Sports

The University Institute of Educational Creativity and Innovation, in which twenty-five researchers are currently working, is the oldest research institute at the Universitat de València. It arose from the convergence in the field of innovation and creativity from research carried out in the areas of pedagogy and didactics, as well as aesthetics and fine arts.  Nowadays, it also brings together researchers from other areas, such as sociology or audiovisual communication.

The Institute of Educational Creativity and Innovations, according to its director, "is the only research institute of our university focused on educational issues, which have a prominent teaching presence in the map of degrees and postgraduates of the institution.  On the other hand, Hernàndez i Dobon adds, "it is the only university linked to research in subjects such as plastic arts, museums or music, which are so deeply rooted in our land.  In addition, its activities are also related to theatre, photography and Falles".

At present, in addition to the lines of research and the offer of postgraduate courses, the IUCIE is linked to five scientific journals and two specialised book collections.  The Institute is responsible for Professor “Romà de la Calle” Documentation Centre of Valencian Contemporary, named agter one of the founders of the Institute. He has also recently launched the project "Vínculo", which offers specialised assistance in conflicts involving parental violence. The Institute of Educational Creativity and Innovations, for its lines of study and activity, concludes its director "stands out for having a clear commitment to the projection and transfer of knowledge to our society".
