The climbing team will fight for the medals

The Universitat de Valencia’s climbing CEU will take place on the 1st and 2nd of April at the Sports Pavilion of the Universitat Politécnica de València, the organising university. ‘Like every year, the climbing team is ready to do their best at the CEU’, says Mónica Sánchez, the coach of the team.

The UV will go to the national competition representing both categories, women and men. The men’s team consists of Anier González, Adrián Herraiz and Pepe de la Fuente. ‘Anier has just won the gold medal at the regional championship and he’s ready to fight for a place in the podium’, claims the coach of the team. She also adds this is the first time Anier competes at the Spanish championship.

The women’s team consists of Sara Vives, Maite Martínez and Claudia López. Their selector highlights the huge motivation of this team, since ‘Sara has just won the silver medal and will also fight for the podium. Maite is pretty encouraged after the CADU and the good vibes it gave her’ she says. Furthermore, Sánchez adds this will be Claudia López’s first time in the championship.

Regarding the possibilities of winning medals for both teams, the UV is aware of the difficulties due to the injured players. ‘It is going to be very difficult, but, why not?’, concludes Mónica Sánchez.

Men Single’s representation in the CEU of golf

The CEU of golf, organised by the Miguel Hernández University, will be celebrated from the 1^st  to the 4^th  of April in the Golf Club ‘El Plantío’ (Elche). The UV will be represented by two sportsmen, Álvaro Pujades from the FCAFE, recent autonomic champion, and David Baixanli from the Faculty of ADE and Law. Since the UV only has males for this championship, the UV will only compete in the single’s classification and not in the teams one (since it is necessary the presence of both genders to be able to participate in the teams category).

The selection of fencing will fight for the first five places

The selection of fencing of the UV will also compete in the CEU and it will do so in the male foil, female foil, male sword, female sword and male sabre. As their trainer Javier García Delgado anticipates, the selection will fight to be in the first five places in teams, furthermore, they have the possibility to win a medal in the male foil category. The Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera will be the organising institution for this championship, which will start on the the 5^th of April. The competition will be held in the ‘Centro de Tecnificación de Esgrima’ Municipal Pavilion of Benimaclet, Valencia.

In paddle tennis, medal prospects

To conclude, in the CEU of paddle tennis, the Universitat de València arrives to the competition as the autonomic champion and will be represented by the male partners Sergio Icardo and Salvador Oria, and the female partners, Sonia Monrabal and Esther García. ‘We have the hope to win a medal this year, in men single as well as in pairs’ says their trainer Jorge Bellmont. This championship is organised by the UCV and will take place from the 1^st to the 4^th of April in the PadelCity of Massanassa.
