The UV appoints Sylvia Martínez Gallego as new Vice-principal for Equality, Diversity and Inclusive Policies

The Principal of the Universitat de València, Mª Vicenta Mestre, has appointed Sylvia Martínez Gallego, professor at the Faculty of Teacher Training, as new vice-principal for Equality, Diversity and Inclusive Policies of the UV.

On Friday, 12 January, Dr. Sylvia Martínez Gallego, professor of Didactics of Plastic Expression at the Faculty of Teacher Training, took office as vice-principal for Equality, Diversity and Inclusive Policies.

Previously, Dr. Martínez Gallego held the position of head of Equality and Diversity initiatives in this same Office of the Vice-Principal since May 2022.

Born in Valencia in May 1962, she graduated in Fine Arts and completed the master’s programmes in Specific Didactics and Secondary Education at the Universitat de València. Besides, she has taught at various branches of the College of Art and Design of Valencia (EASD).

She achieved the degree of Doctor in Education and the level of Full-Time Lecturer at the Universitat de València, where she has held various management positions in the Faculty, and is currently a member of the University Senate.

Dr. Martínez Gallego is currently a member of the research group “Investigating Music Education - iMUSED” (Investigando la Educación Musical), focusing on research lines such as teaching staff training, didactics of the Visual Arts and interdisciplinary nature of the Arts.

Professor Sylvia Martínez replaces Helena Rausell at the head of the Office of the Vice-Principal. Also a professor at the Faculty of Teacher Training, Professor Helena Rausell resigned for personal reasons last December.

Principal of the Universitat de València, Mª Vicenta Mestre, has thanked Dra. Rausell for her services during her nearly two years of management at the Office of the Vice-Principal, which develops a set of strategic policies for the Universitat de València.
