Setmana Accio Mundial Educacio

The Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences of the Universitat de València holds this Thursday, 27 April, the acts of the Global Action Week for the Education (SAME). The principal event of the SAME is a demonstration to demand this basic right of all individuals in the world. It will start at 11:15h in the Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences and will end up in Plaza la Virgen where the student body of the universities, secondary and primary schools will join in from 12:00h.

This year the Global Week for Education is held from 24 to 29 April with the aim of getting familiar with the new programming of the sustainable development objectives (ODS), especially with ODS4 which is focused on the right to education. The organisation emphasises how important is that the citizenship demands an explanation to the politicians about the achievement of ODS4. And it also points out the active participation of the citizenship in the processes needed to reach the right to an inclusive, fair and high-quality education.

The faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences will be the HQ of the several events that will be taken place on 27 April. At 9:15h there will be a gymkhana with tests to achieve the Educational Passport. From 10:15 to 11:15h a ceremony will take place at the Aula Magna. This event will conclude with the reading of a manifesto by students. The main act of the session is the educational demonstration with the motto ‘Asking for Education’ that will be held from 12:00h at the plaza de la Virgen in Valencia. So, at 11:15h a meeting has been organised, at the hall of the Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences, of those who will participate in the act.

The Global Campaign for Education (GCE), with the aforementioned motto, mobilises to request politicians an explanation for the achievement of ODS4. And it also asks for their active participation in the processes needed to reach the right to an inclusive, fair and high-quality education. For this reason, more than 124 countries join the global effort. In 2015, a total of 196 states signed the Objectives of Sustainable Development and promised to guarantee that all the children will have an inclusive, equitable and quality education in 2030, and a learning along their lives.

This Global Action Week for Education (SAME) is an annual campaign which is celebrated around the world to address the importance of the education in countries of the north and south. It has a character of sensitivity of public opinion and institutional recognition and it is organised by the Global Campaign for Education (GCE).
